Los Angeles (March 28, 2019) — Within has announced a local Los Angeles initiative that will provide Apple iPads equipped with the award-winning augmented reality children’s app, Wonderscope, to Los Angeles Public Libraries and LA’s BEST Afterschool Enrichment Program, the largest afterschool program in Los Angeles County. The initiative will run through the month of April and is free for children and their families.
The Los Angeles Public Library system serves the largest population of any public library system in the country, and is acclaimed for its community outreach efforts, which include a variety of programs for young readers. The LA’s BEST Afterschool Enrichment Program plays a vital role in the lives of more than 25,000 elementary school students who come from neighborhoods with the fewest resources and the greatest needs.
Within is also providing an AR 101 video that kids and teachers can watch, explaining what the technology is and how Wonderscope works. Additionally, Within will hand out lesson plans to educators with sample reading comprehension questions and suggested class discussions. The Within team will visit libraries and classrooms involved in the initiative in order to answer questions and interact with the kids, as well as to help facilitate the learning process.
